, in a house that his parents built. It was across the road from his
Wheeler grandparents, and next to the Black Mountain Baptist Church where
his parents had been married. The house is no longer standing. In it's
place is a Wheeler cemetery.
Birth Notes (Wife)
Her mother, Eleanor Bauer, was 16 years old and unmarried. There is no
proof as to who Beverly's father was, but one of Eleanor's sisters
believes that his name was George Heil. Eleanor was unable
to keep her baby daughter, and so Beverly was placed in an orphanage in
Coldwater Michigan in hopes that she would be adopted. She
was there for over a year before her parents found her and took her home.
(In the interim another couple had taken her home, but they decided that
they didn't want a baby after all and returned Beverly to the orphanage.)
Her parents had wanted to adopt a boy baby, but when they were visiting
the nursery they saw a beautiful toddler who had begun to cry. My
grandmother picked her up and this little girl soon became happy and full
of smiles, and so parents and child had found each other.
