ABRAHAM MARTIN
known as the Scot
With braham Martin, of unknown origin, was born in France, 1589. It
arrives in this new country, about 1620, with his wife Marguerite
Langlois, sister of Francoise Langlois, married to Pierre Desportes
(parents of Helene Desportes). After the catch of Quebec by Kirke, July
24, 1629, they are turned over to France, then returned in Quebec, in
1633.
Abraham is with Louis Hébert one of the first Canadian colonists. This
famous colonist, royal pilot and pilot of ship of the St. Lawrence, are
with the source of our national navy. It is him which throws the
rudiments of the first chart of the river.
The ground of Abraham Martin, in the summit meeting of the Cape Diamonds,
receives the name of the " Plains of Abraham ", name then extended to the
close plate, on which celebrates it battle between Wolfe and Montcalm is
delivered. A picturesque anecdote reports that the "Coast of Abraham" was
the path borrowed by Martin, to go down to theSaint-Charles river to
water his animals.
One says this man, who was a ploughman and fishing until in the St.
Lawrence gulf, sometimes designated as pilot, whom a drop of blood runs
in the veins of all the French descendants.
His/her partner, Marguerite Langlois, give him nine children, of which
that of Eustace Martin, the first wire of a French, born in News-France.
It is the first baptism which is registered on the register of Our-Lady
of Quebec, on October 21, 1621. Separately the mention of its baptism, we
do not have any unspecified precision on Eustace Martin, surely deceased
very young.
Abraham Martin left by his daughters, very many postéritée, of which
three have a bond in this genealogy.
The second baptism which takes place in Quebec, is that of Marguerite
Martin, sister of Eustace Martin. its birth is thus recorded at the date
of January 4, 1624. Marguerite Martin becomes, May 22, 1638, the woman of
Étienne Racine , wire of Rene Racine and Marie Loisel, of Fumichon, in
Normandy.
If the first child of the French pioneer does not leave posterity, it is
not the same first girl, because the descendants of the ten children of
Marguerite Martin, married to Étienne Racine , amount today per
thousands.
Three Racine children create us bonds, of which a son, Noël Racine, born
in 1643. It marries in 1667, Marguerite Gravel, born in 1651, girl of
Joseph-Massed Gravel , said Brindelière, originating in St-Saver of

Sainte-Madeleine of Ventrouze, in Randonnay.
Then a girl, Marie-madeleine Root, born in 1646, wife in 1661, Noël
Simard, born in 1636, originating in Puymoyen in Charente, in France,
wire of the ancestor Pierre Simard , known as Lombrette and of Suzanne
Durand.
Third is Jeanne Racine, born in 1660. It marries in 1682, Jean Paré, born
in 1656, wire of the ancestors Robert Paré and Francoise Lehoux . Their
Avoided Thimothé son, born in 1700, wife in 1725, Genevieve Barette ,
born in 1705.
The second girl Martin, Marie, born in 1635, wife Jean Nailsmith, born in
1620, in St-Jean de Mortagne, in France, wire of the ancestors Zacharie
Nailsmith and Xainte Dupont.
Three Cloutier children create bonds, of which a son, Jean Cloutier, born
in 1652. It marries in 1679, Louise Bélanger, born in 1657, girl of the
ancestors, François Bélanger and Marie Guyon .
Then, a girl, Marie Nailsmith, born in 1655, wife in 1671, Jean-François
Bélanger, born in 1648, brother of Louise.
Another girl Nailsmith, Xainte, born in 1661, wife in 1681, Charles
Fortin, born in 1656, wire of the ancestors Julien Forti N and Genevieve
Gamache .
Then, the third Martin girl, named Anne, born in 1645, wife Missed the
Jacques ancestor , born about 1631, originating in Laleu, in LaRochelle,
in Aunis, France.
Three Raté children establish also bonds which concern us. A first girl,
Marie-Anne, born in 1665, wife in 1683, Ignace Gosselin, born in 1655,
wire of the ancestors, Gabriel Gosselin and Francoise LeLièvre.
A boy, Pierre Missed, born in 1675, wife in 1702, Jeanne Nolin, born in
1685, girl of the ancestors, Jacques Nolin , said Deschatelets and of
Francoise Chalifoux .
Then finally, another girl Missed, Louise, born in 1680, wife in 1700,
Louis Martin, born in 1671, wire of another Martin pioneer, Joachin and
of Anne-Charlotte Petit .
The ancestor Abraham Martin, known as the Scot is buried in Quebec,
September 8, 1664, towards the 75 years age. Its widow, Marguerite
Langlois, marry on February 17, 1665, Rene Branche, and is buried on
