August Herman Schneider was born on October 7, 1862 (possibly 1861, from
marriage record ) to Edward and Henrietta (Drews) Schneider in Kalisch,
Kries Berent, Region Danzig, West Prussia (per church marriage record).
He migrated to the US in about 1884 according to Federal Census
questionnaires (1910, 1920, 1930).
On February 27, 1886 he married Ida Paulina Thrun at Trinity Lutheran
Church, Port Huron. Ida, who for unknown reasons later became known as
Edith, was born on May 5, 1866 to John and Caroline (Hering) Thrun in
Sommicu, Pommern, Prussia (per Trinity marriage record). Her family
migrated to the US in about 1870 (obituary). August and Ida/Edith became
naturalized U.S. citizens.
Their first three children-William, Bertha and Herman-were born and
baptized in Port Huron. The family moved to Detroit and from about 1894
to 1896 lived with brother Rudolph at 434 Lansing Street and other nearby
addresses. The next two children, Lina and Fredrich, were born there.
By 1903 the family had permanently moved back to Port Huron. Known
addresses there were on 10th Street (1910) and Griswold Street (1930).
August's jobs included a laborer on the steam railroad. Arthur Louis
Schneider recalls August was very tall and closely resembled his brother
Rudolph. Edith/Ida died on Oct 27, 1934. August died on January 8, 1941.
Sadly, they lie in unmarked graves in Lakeside Cemetery, H560. According
to Edith's 1934 obituary, surviving were three sons, two daughters, and
nine grandchildren.
The families of brothers Rudolph and August had frequent contacts during
the early years. The last known gathering was at the Detroit funeral of
William Edward Schneider in 1964. Herman (usual 614 Division address),
Lora, and Linwood and his wife signed the guest book According to
Rudolph family cousins, the Port Huron clan seemed to fish the St Clair
River "all the time." They recall that Bertha sometimes delivered fish
to the Lansing Ave. clan and that they sometimes joined in the fishing at
Port Huron.

William Carl Otto Schneider (May 11, 1888 - February 26, 1936) married
Clara Emile Gustke (1894 - 1962) on May 20, 1914 at Trinity Church. They
had one stillborn daughter (May 6, 1915) and possibly one other daughter
who matured. William, a trucker, was fatally crushed while on the job.
Clara lived another 26 years. She lies next to husband William in
Lakeside Cemetery, O222. 8

Bertha Ida Schneider (May 5, 1889 - October 1, 1944) married Otto P.
Laudeman (abt 1885 - 1947) on October 23, 1912 at Trinity Church. They
had only one child, Irene, who probably died as an infant in 1930. All
three adjoin August and Edith in Lakeside Cemetery, H560.

General Notes for Child Herman August Gustav SCHNEIDER
Herman August Gustav Schneider (May 15, 1892 - June 15, 1974) married
Hedwig Emilie M. Kristik (October 12, 1894 - September 13, 1957) on June
10?, 1915 at Trinity Church. Herman worked as a crane operator. Their
children were: Lora Lina (February 8, 1916 - January 17, 1995), Norbert
(January 19, 1918 - June 17, 1974), Linwood C. (September 24, 1920 -
April 8, 1984), and infant Harvey (October 1924 - April 15, 1925). The
sons married and produced a total of six grandchildren. Herman, Hattie,
and Lora are buried in Lakeside Cemetery B13 and Harvey in H560; the
resting place of the sons is unknown. 8
General Notes for Child Lina Emma Sophie SCHNEIDER
Lina Emma Sophie Schneider (April 8, 1894 - November 1, 1962) probably
married a man named Crince and had become widowed by the 1930 Census.
She and her four children-Elizabeth E. (b: abt 1920), Melvin (b: abt
1922), Clayton, and Manford C.-were living with August and Edith on
Griswold Street. By 1934, Lina had married a man named Boyd. Trinity
death records indicate that she had one daughter, three sons, and six
grandchildren. Lina E. Boyd is buried alongside her parents. 8
General Notes for Child Albert Frederick SCHNEIDER
Frederich Albert Schneider (March 6, 1896 - May 6, 1970) married Minnie
Louise _?_ (1906 - 1997). It is not known if they had children. Fred
and Minnie are buried in Lakeside Cemetery, O51. This is probably the
man referred to as "Uncle" Fred by the Detroit Schneiders. 8
